Introducing the Pomegrante Phone, the first smartphone to offer e-mail, Internet browsing, an MP3 player, and GPS navigation in addition to such atypical “extras” as a harmonica, an electric shaver, and a coffee brewer.

What? Is this for real? Well, no. But it is a pretty clever, albeit expensive, viral ad campaign.

The L.A. Times explains:

The Pomegranate Phone is part of a $300,000 ad campaign put together by Nova Scotia. Yes, that Nova Scotia, the small province in southeastern Canada.

Indeed, clicking the “release date” link in the upper right-hand corner of the Pomegranate Phone’s microsite reveals the truth:

“Someday you’ll be able to get everything you want in one device,” reads the text that appears on-screen as you’re redirected to Nova Scotia’s tourism site. “Today you can get everything you want in one place.”

I only wish that more of yesterday’s Superbowl ads had been this clever.

بله درست شنیدید…گوگل برای راحتی کار کاربران جیمیل (سرویس ایمیل گوگل) یک کیبورد رو طراحی کرده به اسم جیبورد که میتونه در کنترل جیمیل به کاربران کمک شایانی بکنه. همونطور که در عمس زیر میبینید یم سری کلیدهایی روی این کیبورد هست اما طبق معمول حروف نیستند بلکه یک سری شکل هستند که نشانگر شرتکات (میانبر) هستند و با زدن این دکمه ها به عنوان مثال ایمیل رو ارسال کنید، به سطل اشغال بفرستید و هرکار دیگه ای که لازم باشه البته چندتا اشکال هم داره که به قول سایت سی نت ، این کیبورد تمام شورت کات ها رو دربر نگرفته و یا مشکل دیگه ای که به نظر مهم هم میاد این هست که اگه شورت کات ها تغییر پیدا کنه عملا دیگه این کیبورد به درد نمیخوره….

Gmail has long had keyboard shortcuts, though learning them can be difficult. Enter the Gboard, a specialized mini-keyboard for Google’s e-mail service. It debuts this Friday at an asking price of $19.99.

The Gboard consists of 19 colored keys set in a standard size numpad-only keyboard. Clicking on any one of these performs that particular keyboard shortcut. Included are Gmail-specific features such as starring messages, starting a search, and jumping between message threads. Outside of Gmail they simply act as normal keyboard buttons, and will type in whatever letter or number corresponds with that shortcut.

The device is powered by USB and requires no special software or drivers, however users need to first enable keyboard shortcuts within Gmail’s settings before using it. Also worth noting is that it was created not by Google, but by Charlie Mason, a film producer from Venice, Calif. This is his first foray into the computer hardware business.

This really is a product that users will either love or hate. Those who have mastered Gmail’s shortcuts will see little need to buy special hardware and find a spare USB port to plug it into. Meanwhile, newbie users may be unwilling to take the plunge on such a specific peripheral for a program that works only within another program (the browser). The Gboard runs the risk of being an unappealing prospect to both parties.

It’s also not the first attempt at easing the process of learning and remembering shortcuts. This time last year Google offered users a free pack of color-coded shortcut stickers that could be tacked onto any keyboard. There have also long been specialized keyboards for video and audio editing as well as graphical design–all of which provide similar, color-coded keys. Users who don’t want to commit, or tack stickers on their keyboard, also have the option of buying a silicone keyboard mat, though no such thing has been created for Gmail.

Considering there are a total of 69 Gmail shortcuts (with more on the way if Google graduates some of its experimental features from its labs section) the Gboard could just be the first step toward creating a full-size (100 plus key) version. In the meantime, its early December release and low price tag make for a good stocking stuffer if you’ve got a Gmail lover in your family.

The good:
• No setup required
• Color coding is logical and makes it easy to learn the keys
• Good build quality and feel; keys are flat like on a laptop
• At $19.99 it’s not that expensive. Most numeric-only keyboards cost about the same.

The bad:
• Does not come close to including all of Gmail’s shortcuts
• Could be rendered less useful if Gmail’s shortcuts change
• Only comes in one color (black)

اولین خبر رو از کمپانی اپل شروع میکنم که این روزا سهم بزرگی در بازار فروش موبایل و پلیرهای دنیا داره و با دو محصول آیفون و آیپاد درآمد بسیار بالایی رو کسب کرده و با راه اندازی بزرگترین فروشگاه اینترنتی برای بازی و نرم افزار….تونسته یکه تاز در اینترنت به جلو بره و خب اگه یادتون باشه همین چند ماه پیش بود که اپل رکورد یک میلیاردمین بار دانلود از فروشگاه در عرض نه ماه رو به ثبت رسوند و سود سرشاری را از آنِ خود کرد.

اما این روزها شایعات و پیش بینی هایی هست که اعلام میکنند برای سال ۲۰۱۰ حدود ۳۰۰ هزار برنامه روی اَپ اِستور قرار خواهد گرفت که در نوع خود یک رکورد حساب میشه…در حال حاضر فروشگاه اپل که بر روی نرم افزار آیتونز اجرا میشه ، بیش از ۱۰۰ هزار برنامه داره و خب یعنی تا چند ماه دیگه باید شاهد هزاران هزار برنامه جدید و مهیج باشیم.

The New York Times covers a new, wide-ranging report from research firm IDC outlining its technology predictions for 2010. Among the firm’s predictions for Apple are the release of an Apple tablet computing device and the achievement of a 300,000-application milestone for iPhone and iPod touch applications.

IDC predicts that by the end of 2010 there will be over one billion mobile devices accessing the Internet. While increasingly sophisticated smartphones will represent a substantial portion of the growth, Apple’s “iPad” tablet device is also seen as a game-changer for the industry opening a new high-growth market for mobile devices.

The long-rumored Apple touchscreen tablet computer, or iPad, will arrive in 2010, IDC predicts. It will be more of an oversized iPod Touch, with an 8-inch or 10-inch screen, than a downsized Macintosh. With its larger screen, IDC says, the Apple tablet will be ideal for watching movies, surfing the Web, playing online games, and reading books, magazines and newspapers. It will be general-purpose, unlike Amazon.com’s single-purpose Kindle reader. The Apple offering, Mr. Gens says, “could deliver a real kick in Kindle’s butt.”

The research firm also sees mobile devices continuing to “exert a powerful transformational force” on the computing industry as they evolve to become viable competitors to traditional computers as users’ primary machines. That evolution will occur hand-in-hand with an explosion in the market for mobile applications, which IDC predicts will triple the number of available iPhone and iPod touch application to 300,000 from the 100,000+ applications currently available in the App Store. Similar growth is predicted to occur for Google’s Android platform, as well as the popular netbook market.

حتما حتما توپهای فلزی به پای زندانی ها میبندن رو دیدید که به پاشون وصله و باید بکشنش تا بتونن راه برن و خب خیلی سخت هست واسشون تا بتونن راه برن اما این وسیله برای بجه ها هم ساخته شده!! یعنی اینکه بجه رو بشونین پای  میز مطالعه و اون حلقه رو حالا یا به پای بچه یا به گردن!! بچه ببندید (بالاخره کار از محکم کاری عیب نمیکنه) و یک مقدار زمانی رو واسش معلوم کنید و خب بچه باید صبر کنه و درس بخونه تا این تایمر که روی حلقه نشون میده صفر بشه و بعد میتونه بره به کارای دیگه برسه….البته احیانا اگه بچه گلاب به روتون کاری داشت میتونین یه چند دقیقه بازش کنین و بعد دوباره ببندیدش!!

Weighing about 20 pounds or 9.5kg, the prison-style Study Ball is tied with a shackle with a 16.5-inch chain and there is a programmable study timer built-in to the shackle. Desperate parents can chain their kids to the Study Ball and set the duration for a study session. Kids will be unable to leave their desk until the study session is over. A small digital display will indicate the countdown time of the “Study Time Left”. Once the time is up, the electronic device will beep and the lock will automatically open. The shackled and imprisoned kids will thence be “freed”. In the event during the “prison” time, kids need to go to the toilet or have other urgent matters to attend to, parents can unlock the shackle with a safety key. Sounds rather brutal and primitive? Well, extreme measures may be needed for extreme situations.

Costing a mere $115, the interesting Study Ball perhaps overturns all modern learning theories and beliefs about child psychology. However, some believe it could be a good device to teach children about responsibility, patience and discipline in a physically visual way. Just wonder what will be the reaction of the parents and adults, though, if bosses were to apply this device at the workplace.

ما در حال راه اندازی سایت های دیگه ای هستیم که یه کم طراحیشون وقتمون رو گرفته و خب بابت آپدیت نشدن سایت عذر میخوام.

همونطور که میدونید یکی از مقوله هایی که این روزها داره خیلی سروصدا میکنه و نگاه همه رو جلب کرده؛ دنیای سه بعدی فیلم ها هست که برای اولین بار هم در جشنواره کن به عنوان افتتاحیه پخش خواهد شد و خب بسیاری دوست دارن با این سیستم نوین دیجیتالی آشنا بشن و البته خودتون بهتر از من میدونید که فعلا تماشای این فیلم های سه بعدی نیاز به عینک های خاص دارن و بدون عینکهای مخصوص فعلا نمیشه چیزی رو دید اما خبری که اومده این هست که به زودی تلویزیون هایی به بازار خواهند اومد به بازار که بتونن تصاویر سه بعدی رو بدون نیاز به عینک برای خریداران به ارمغان بیاره که خب تحول عظیمی هست در این سیستم ها.

البته به زودی که میگم ممکنه تا سه سال آینده طول بکشه ولی خب خبری بسیار خوب هست که حتما حتما سعی میکنیم آخرین خبرها رو در این زمینه به حضورتون برسونیم.

We’ve mentioned time and again the future of 3D television. No doubt this is one of the paths high-definition television is going take. But yeah, you still have to wear those geeky 3D glasses in order to fully experience 3D displays. But maybe, within the next three years, this may not be the case anymore. Maybe then, we can experience 3D through our naked eye.

Companies from Taiwan definitely had this same vision. They may also begin selling LCD TVs with 3D viewing technology that does not require the special glasses normally used in movie theaters to show 3D films. This technology has already been developed by Taiwan’s publicly funded Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). The research group has already licensed the technology to at least one company in Taiwan and said it will be on display at a major exhibition in Taipei next year.

But don’t hold your breathe’s just yet. Initially, these 3D technology will be tried and tested in digital signs. If everything works great, I bet that’s the time they’ll incorporate it into televisions – say about 3 years from now?

The research group has been able to create 3D LCD TVs with screens as large as 56-inches, but the technology still needs some work before it can be sold for TV viewing. Colors on the 3D LCD TVs are not as vibrant as a standard LCD TV. For people willing to wear the special polarized glasses needed for most 3D viewing, ITRI has developed 3D LCD TVs, computer monitors and mobile phone screens that could be on the market any time.

Companies in Taiwan that ITRI had licensed the technology to had already started manufacturing 3D LCD TVs and monitors in small quantities, targeting market release by this year.

In a brief report, DigiTimes claims that Apple has placed orders with OmniVision Technologies for both 3.2 and 5-megapixel image sensors. The 3.2-megapixel sensor is reportedly destined for the next-generation iPhone, while the 5-megapixel sensor is claimed to be for a separate product launching later this year.
OmniVision has received 3.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor (CIS) orders for Apple’s next-generation iPhone, according to market sources. The company is also said to have secured 5-megapixel CIS orders for another Apple product expected to be launched later in the year.

Both the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G utilize a 2-megapixel camera, and speculation regarding a higher resolution camera in the next-generation iPhone has been popular for some time now. Evidence of a “Publish Video” screen in the iPhone OS 3.0 beta and supporting claims of a video camera in the next-generation iPhone suggest that Apple is targeting significant improvements to the iPhone’s imaging capabilities.
