Pomegranate Phone
English Text from GearLog.com:
When was the last time your iPhone made you coffee? And no, I don’t mean “pointed you toward the nearest Starbucks”—I mean actually brewed a cuppa joe.
Introducing the Pomegrante Phone, the first smartphone to offer e-mail, Internet browsing, an MP3 player, and GPS navigation in addition to such atypical “extras” as a harmonica, an electric shaver, and a coffee brewer.
What? Is this for real? Well, no. But it is a pretty clever, albeit expensive, viral ad campaign.
The L.A. Times explains:
The Pomegranate Phone is part of a $300,000 ad campaign put together by Nova Scotia. Yes, that Nova Scotia, the small province in southeastern Canada.
Indeed, clicking the “release date” link in the upper right-hand corner of the Pomegranate Phone’s microsite reveals the truth:
“Someday you’ll be able to get everything you want in one device,” reads the text that appears on-screen as you’re redirected to Nova Scotia’s tourism site. “Today you can get everything you want in one place.”
I only wish that more of yesterday’s Superbowl ads had been this clever.

the pomegranate phone
a short description from Wikipedia:
The Pomegranate is a fictional[1] mobile phone, from Nova Scotia releasing in late September 2008. The website boasts a number of comic features (such as a video projector, live voice translator, harmonica, coffee maker, and shaving razor, among many other standard features that current leading mobile phones have), but upon clicking “I’ve seen enough” or “Release date”, an array of information about Nova Scotia and its culture is displayed. The campaign, which included online advertising[2] on sites in New England, is an attempt to attract interest in Nova Scotia and establish it as a desirable place to live and do business.[3]
The Pomegranate phone is the latest campaign from Communications Nova Scotia’s Come to Life initiative, the place-branding program of the Government of Nova Scotia. Communications Nova Scotia has been criticized by some for spending $300,000 on the ad campaign, though the website received more than 1,100,000 visits from 201 countries/territories since its launch on September 30, 2008, and they are considering it to be very successful.[4]
